Glenkinchie: Foundation: 1837 Debate: “Glenkindschi” Meaning: Valley of the Kinchie Status: in production

The distillery Glenkinchie is located about 25 km outside Edinburgh in the village Pencaitland, and has become a popular destination for the inhabitants of the capital. Therefore, it is not surprising that the labels read “The Ednburgh Malt”. The Lammermuir Hills are nearby. The area is known for its high quality barley. Similar to Rosebank, Glenkinchie remained in operation during the 2nd World War. The buildings now house a museum, which was expanded and modernised in 1997. Among other things, the museum has a miniature model of the distillery, which is almost 10m long and fully functional.
The whisky is light, spicy and contains more complex aromas than those typical of the Lowlands.
