Glenlivet: Foundation: 1824 Debate: “Glen-liwit” Meaning: “Livet valley* Status: in operation

The Distillery Glenlivet is located in the valley of the River Livet. It has been proven that whisky has been distilled at the Upper Drumin Farm since 1774. King George IV also only wanted this when he was in Edinburhg. George Smith was the first black distiller in this region to obtain a license in 1824, which also brought him some threats. Allegedly, he was therefore always armed with two pistols, although his handsome figure was usually enough for thieves and servants to make a run for it.
The whisky is fruity in style, aromatic, partly sherry, slightly sweet with a hint of smoke.
