The Coleburn distillery is located between Elgin and Rothes. John Robertson & Son Ltd engaged the architect Charles Chree Doig for the construction. The railway connection brought many advantages to the distillery, which also benefited the various owners. When this connection was shut down in 1966, the company closed its own malthouse in 1968. In 1985 Diageo finally closed the distillery and no longer extended the whisky distillery licence, which expired in 1992.
The whisky is very fruity, dry and oily in style.
