Inchgower: Foundation: 1824/1871 Debate: “Insch-gauer” Meaning: “Ile of the goats* Status: in operation

The Distillery Inchgower is in Buckie. The original Distilleriy Tochineal was in Cullen near Banff. In 1824, however, it had to be officially closed due to lack of water, but unofficially under pressure from the wife of the landlord – she was an active member of the Scotland Temperance Society, which doubled the rent in such a way that it had to be closed. Later, Alexander Wilson & Co (owned by the founder’s nephew) opened a new distillery in Buckie called Inchgower with Tochineal’s facilities. Since she got into the hands of DCL/UDV quite late, she was able to keep her beautiful and old appearance.
The whisky is sweetish in style, malty, slightly oaky, spicy and slightly salty in the finish.
