Imperial: Founded: 1897 Debate: “Em-piri-el” Meaning: “powerful, imperial* Status: closed 1998

The Distillery Imperial is located in the small pond Carron directly at the River Spey near Aberlour. For years a crown adorned the kiln, because Thomas Mackenzie adorned the distillery in honour of Quenn Victoria’s dimly-dimmed throne jubilee in the founding year. This was only removed in 1930 because it was totally rusted. The distillery has been shut down since 1998 and Pernod Ricard wants to sell it long ago. All the equipment is still on site.
The whisky is sweet in style, honey, vanilla, spicy and with little peat.
