Nose: Delicate floral notes with vanilla and sweet floral honey. The aroma is reminiscent of kiwi, melon, coconut and ripe pears with the refreshing citrus note typical of Islay Barley and our particularly slow distillation. Furthermore, spicy nuances come to the fore, which originate from the maturation in American and French oak casks and underline the fruitiness of Islay Barley 2012. The complex aroma composition ends with the sweetness of toffee and chocolate as well as some hay, freshly ground grain and a fascinating salty-maritime component.
Palate: The taste reminds of pear, melon and oranges coated with soft toffee and fudge. Creamy porridge and rice pudding meld with sweet malt sugar, fresh hay and spicy wood flavours. The fruity-floral DNA typical of Bruichladdich is evident from the first second and remains present until the end.
Finish: The maritime saltiness perfectly matches the delicate touch of toasted oak and salted caramel. Finally, fruity melon and the omnipresent creamy texture form a finale that makes the connoisseur forget the world around him for a moment.
