Dailuaine: Foundation: 1852 Debate: “Dal-jú-en” Meaning: “Green valley* Status: in operation

The Dailuaine distillery is located near Aberlour in a hamlet called Carron. The farmer William Mackenzie had it built by the architect Charles Chree Doig and it was the first distillery with a pagoda roof. Partly it was one of the largest distilleries of the Highlands. The whisky flows almost exclusively into the blends of Johnny Walker. She was particularly proud of her own railway connection and, above all, her own steam locomotive.
The whisky is malty in style, aromatic with some light smoky notes.
