Benrinnes: Foundation: 1826 Debate: “Benrinnes” Meaning: “Hill in the foothills* Status: in operation

The distillery Benrinnes is located near Aberlour at the foot of the mountain Ben Rinnes, to which the distillery owes its name. Originally it was called Lyne of Ruthie after the nearby waterfall. The river destroyed a large part of the distillery after three years and the new owner renamed it after the reconstruction in Benrinnes. For a Highland Whisky unusual Benrinnes partly still uses the triple distillation.
The whisky is creamy in style, smoky and with a hint of vanilla and caramel.
