Pittyvaich: Founded: 1974 Pronunciation: “Pittywich” Meaning: “Farm with stable” Status: closed in 1993

The Pittyvaich distillery was one of the youngest distilleries ever and was located in Dufftown. After its closure, it was used for some time as a research station by UDV, but in 2002 the stills were dismantled and partially relocated to the Clynelish distillery. The stillhouse was then demolished a year later.

The whisky’s style is slightly oily, malty, spicy, with notes of vanilla, somewhat sharp, grassy, fruity, and rather short.
