Glenfarclas: Foundation: 1836 pronunciation: “Glen-farggles” meaning: “valley of green grass or green meadows* status: in operation

The Distillery Glenfarclas is located near the town of Bridge of Avon. It is one of the few distilleries still family-owned. The Grants’ first-born sons are always called John or George. They developed an aggressive marketing and bottling policy so that they could compete against the big corporations at all. Glenfarclas was one of the first whiskies in Scotland to be bottled as single malt. Especially worth mentioning are the Family Cask bottlings, which have been produced almost annually since 1952.
The whisky is aromatic in style, malty, fruity, honey and sherry.
