Glencraig: Foundation: 1810 Debate: “Glenbörgie” Meaning: “Valley with the fortress* Status: in operation
The distillery Glenburgie/Glencraig is located just outside Alves. The date of foundation is not documented, but it is known that it was baptized Kilnflat and was in possession of William Paul until 1871. It is mainly used for the Ballantines. Some years 2 Lomond Stills were in operation. At this time another whisky called Glencraig was also produced.
The Glencraig whisky is sweet in style, dry, with some sherry and wood.
