Highland Park: Foundation: 1798 Discussion: “Heiländ Park” Meaning: “Highland Park* Status: in operation

The Highland Park Distillery is the northernmost distillery in Scotland and is located on the Orkney Islands peninsula outside the capital Kirkwall on a hill above Scapa Bay. The founder Magnus Eunson was a legendary figure: he was the pastor of the parish and in this capacity he managed to hide his black distillery and smuggling activities again and again. He also did not hesitate to hide the whisky jugs in the pulpit or coffins. About 20% of the malt is still produced by himself and has a peat content of 40ppm. This is mixed with the peatless malt of the mainland and so the smoke in the whisky does not penetrate so strongly anymore.
The whisky is very aromatic in style, sweet, toffee and light smoke.
